About Michigan Tech
Michigan Tech is a public university with a strong science and engineering focus. Current enrollment is 6976 students (2014-2015). The graduate programs have grown significantly in the past decade and now comprise 19.5% of the student population.
Our remote location on the shore of Lake Superior provides easy access to a remarkable natural laboratory for environmental and ecological research. Michigan Tech has a long history of promoting interdisciplinary research though 20 faculty-driven institutes and centers, individual collaborations and interdepartmental degree programs. Environmental research spans the departments of chemistry, biological sciences, environmental engineering, forestry, geological sciences, physics, social sciences, and others, with significant faculty collaborations among all these units.
