Rudy Luck Laboratory

TA Position

TA position in the Luck Laboratory

One position is available for a Ph.D. student interested in Inorganic Chemistry in the Rudy Luck group in the Department of Chemistry at Michigan Technological University, Houghton, MI, USA.

The research studies focus either on aspects of free radical reactions or the syntheses and characterization of probes that can determine the concentrations of metal ions in live cells.

Students will learn various synthetic strategies and characterization techniques such as single-crystal X-ray diffraction in addition to the usual spectroscopic ones. Theoretical calculations using Gaussian will also be accomplished.

The ideal applicant must demonstrate the relevant experience and interest in the outlined studies.

Essential requirement: BS  or BS/MS in Chemistry.

Demonstrated research experience in air-sensitive syntheses and characterization techniques such as NMR, FTIR, and GC would be useful.

Accepted students will be funded through the Department of Chemistry as Teaching Assistants for up to 5 years, conditional on satisfactory progress in competing courses and research requirements towards a Ph.D. degree. Application procedures can be found at
